It’s official, love him or hate him things just got real. America has spoken and made Donald J Trump the 45th president of the United States. As I write this post anti-trump demonstrations continue to take place in major cities across the country as angry protesters chant “Not my President”, but so are celebrations of victory as supports gather to celebrate Trump’s presidential win.
Despite being the clear underdog and the media vilifying him the entire race, not to mention those not so subtle moments he self sabotaged the campaign with his crazy antics. You have to hand it to the guy, he is afterall a huge success and the first ever billionaire president to take office. This year he was listed on Forbes as the 324th wealthiest person in the world. His political comeback was definitely one for the history books.
Some say he was the lesser of two evils, others, the hardcore dedicated Trumpsters feel deep down that he will be the change America needs to be great again. No matter what your take is on the whole issue you have to admit he did something right to come out on top.
“I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either.” –Donald Trump
Since winning the election many world leaders have congratulated Trump on the win. Russian president Vladimir Putin sent a telegram congratulating Trump and expressing his hopes for restored Russia -US connections. This is a huge win for the United States and a tremendous step in the right direction to world peace.
Personally I feel the United States just avoided a nasty disaster with Clinton, regardless if she was predicted to win by the experts, her sneaky agenda would have left the country in shambles. Many find it surprising she was even allowed to run for president considering she sent thousands of classified, even top secret emails from a private server.
Even with Donald Trump’s radical behaviour and outlandish ideas like building a wall between Mexico and the US, his infamous Twitter fight with a beauty queen, the racist comments and claims to remove 200 million illegal immigrants from the country and wanting to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
I can’t help but get the feeling he has good intentions and truly believes he can “build the country up again.” It’s a message his devout supporters feel will be the remedy for a broken country. I have to hand it to the Trump supporters, they are some of the most passionate I’ve seen yet.
It’s true many times throughout history we have needed a refresh, a “do-over.” Now it’s time to press “ctrl/alt/delete” and start a new chapter in history. Trump represents this idea for millions of Americans, a new found hope for the country.
You have your chance Mr. Trump, America has handed you the batton and now the world is watching. Time will tell what side of history you stand on.
