Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s 20th birthday is coming next week and to celebrate it, the company is introducing Prime Day, in which it plans to offer more deals than Black Friday, the e-commerce giant claimed. However, only Prime members will be able to take benefit from these deals.

The summer sale will start from July 15 with exclusive deals rolling out every 10 minutes throughout the day. A spokeswoman at Amazon said that Amazon doesn’t have any plans so far about making Prime Day an annual event.

The company is also holding a “Prime Living Photo Contest” as Prime day approaches, asking its consumers to submit images that display Prime’s advantages. One winner from every Prime-eligible country will be rewarded with a $10,000 Amazon gift card.

This day is another example of the company’s long-term struggle to bring more consumers to Prime that was introduced back in 2005 and currently has an estimated 40 million members in the United States. A main reason for this policy is that Prime members spend a lot of cash to buy stuff from Amazon, roughly $1,500 per year, as compared to just $625 spend by non-members, reported by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. Additionally, AMZN has been expanding its new rapid-delivery service, Prime Now that is also exclusively introduced for its Prime members.

The e-commerce giant offers deep discounts, low-priced deliveries and massive inventory that has helped it to become an e-commerce leader. However, the company needs to follow the same trend to ensure that none of its customer goes to its rivals such as Walmart.

Prime Day will begin on 15th of July at midnight Pacific Time and will end on 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time same day. Thousands of short-term ‘Lightning Deals’ will be offered during event along with seven ‘Deals of the Day.’
