Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) will be soon coming up with new marketing campaign as the social giant is gearing up its efforts to better target its fans and explain how to use its services, based on Bloomberg sources reports.
The firm is introducing new service in an attempt to show non-Twitter audience the benefits of using Twitter, the people told Bloomberg asking not to be identified as the plan is still underprocess. This is the first time that the firm is targeting general audience to promote its products. Twitter’s new marketing tool known as Project Lightning is underprocess, which will allow users to follow live events through curated streams of tweets, photos and videos.
The move calls for the company’s perception that Twitter is a major platform for celebrities, politicians and journalists. The move comes as the CEO of the firm, Disk Costolo, is about to leave the firm. Jack Dorsey, a former CEO and co-founder, will take the charge of the CEO on July 1 on temporary basis until the firm found a replacement for Disk Costolo. Over the previous several quarters Twitter is grappling with low earnings margins and slowing user growth, which angered investors but now investors showed optimism on the CEO step down.
The firm’s most important upcoming tool that drives its ads growth is Project Lightning, enabling users to stream live curated events happening in real time, non-Twitter users will also be able to follow live events. That could be a plus point for the firm as it attracts users who won’t want to set up an account.
That would also allow Twitter to promote ads beyond their typical “promoted tweets,” shown within a user’s timeline, increasing its ads exposure to non-Twitter users. That will open new possibilities, like streaming shows, a choice that possibly will work for awards shows or sports. This would make the company a big sponsor for a live stream.
