NVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA) said that its Shield tablet recall contains vast majority of gadgets it has sold. The company recently announced that 8-inch Shield tablets delivered between July 2014 and July 2015 includes battery that is vulnerable to overheating, which can result in fire.

Though, NVDA reported that no other Shield products, such as the Shield gaming portable and Shield Android TV set-top box, are included in the voluntary recall. Customers having devices incorporating Y01 batteries are effected by the recall, while tablets with B01batteries are not affected. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the U.S recalls affects about 83,000 Shield tablets sold in the country. Another 5,000 recalled tablets were delivered in Canada. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said that the numbers cover majority of Shield tablets the company has sold.

Nvidia, famous for its range of graphics chips for PCs, has designed the Shield tablet to target gamers. The company hasn’t disclosed the number of devices it has sold, though several experts think the figure to be low. Customers generally aren’t purchasing as many tablets as they use to buy in the past, and even Apple’s iPad has been struggling.

Huang said that Nvidia expects to stay in the tablet market for longer period despite low sales of its devices. Huang added that he believe in Shield and that it is very vital investment for the company.

Nvidia became famous by manufacturing graphic processing units for PCs, and the company continues to take benefit from strong demand for its graphics processors for PC gaming. Though, it is making efforts to step into other growthavenues amid declining PC sales.

Huang said the most anticipated games, like Star Wars, that will be launched later this year will increase demand for its GPUs. NVDA has projected higher-than-expected sales for the third quarter. The company is anticipating to post revenue of $1.18 billion, plus or minus 2 percent, while analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters are looking for $1.1 billion in revenue.
