NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced the acquisition of TransGaming technology, which specializes in cross-platform gaming allowing gamers to play games of specific dedicated platforms via a single platform, worth $3.75 million. The TransGaming technology will be added into Nvidia’s GameWorks portfolio, a program introduced to deliver better games in market. The GameWorks team has over 300 mathematicians, physicists and artists. The software which comes through the platform of GameWorks includes PhysX, which improves the rendering of game objects and models. However the deal has yet to go through the anti-trust officials’ approval.
This acquisition would provide an edge to Nvidia in developing games that works on all platforms including Windows, Mac, smartphones and gaming consoles. It could also be beneficial for the firm as a new healthy revenue source.
The procurement would also provide GameTree television platform and on-demand cloud gaming services to Nvidia. This platform allows gamers to manage PC and console games through smart television sets and further these games are supportable with wide range of smart TVs and set-top boxes worldwide.
Nvidia in March announced its Shield handheld console, specifically built for Android games and supports upto 4K-compatible video graphics. It seems that Nvidia is going to utilize TransGaming Technology for making console games. The Android TV console comes up with Nvidia Tegra X1 processor, which enables the console to run high-processing games. TransGmaing technology is well-known for its software Cider, which makes Windows-operated games to run on Apple’s Mac operating system.
Dennis Ensing, interim CEO of TransGaming, said that “This acquisition will allow TransGaming to focus on the rapidly growing opportunities within its Digital Media Group. The company will invest in the continued deployment of GameTree TV with MSO’s, as well as the monetization of its Smart TV footprint, to reap the benefits of subscription-based scalable revenue. We also plan to pursue both the launch of new premium content across our network and strategic partnerships or acquisitions to drive the company’s revenue growth trajectory.”
TransGaming is headquarters are located in Toronto. Canada is a home to many important gaming companies such as Ubisoft, Rockstar and BioWare. And Now Nvidia going to foot step in Canada, will be inaugurating its GameWorks Studio with the support of the TransGaming cross-platform portability team.
Meanwhile the acquisition doesn’t include TransGaming’s SwiftShader 3D, a rendering technology or related patents.
