Hewlett Packard Enterprise Leads Top Earnings Movers

Shares of Hewlett Packard Enterprise went up 6.4% after it released its fourth quarter fiscal results. Revenues rose 3.7% to $7.9 billion. The group posted a net loss of $0.8 million ($0.53 per share), compared with a profit of $0.4 million ($0.23 per share) a year earlier. Non-GAAP earnings per share amounted to $0.45 compared to $0.29 for the same period last year. Analysts on average expected a quarterly EPS of $0.42, for sales of $7.8 billion. In the current quarter, the group targets EPS between $0.33 and $0.37.

Marvell Technology also rose 3.8% after announcing its third quarter accounts. The net loss amounted to $54 million ($0.08 per share), compared to a profit of $200 million ($0.40 per share) a year earlier. In adjusted base, the EPS is displayed at $0.33. Revenues totaled $851 million, compared with $616 million a year earlier. Analysts on average expected a quarterly EPS of $0.32, for revenues of $844 million. In the current quarters, the group is targeting revenues of between $790 and $830 million, for a cost of between $0.30 and $0.34.

Brown-Forman saw little response for its results for the second fiscal quarter. Earnings were $249 million ($0.52 per share), compared with $239 million ($0.49 per share) a year earlier. Sales are $910 million compared to $914 million a year earlier. Analysts on average expected a quarterly EPS of $0.52, for sales of $940 million. Over the year, the group targets EPS between $1.65 and $1.75.

Kroger grew 3.2% after unveiling its accounts for the third quarter. Earnings were $317 million ($0.39 per share), compared with $397 million ($0.44 per share) a year earlier. Sales dropped 0.3% to $27.67 billion. In adjusted basis, the EPS is $0.48. Analysts on average expected a quarterly EPS of $0.43, for revenues of $27.6 billion. In 2018, the group targets EPS between $2 and $2.15.

Costco Wholesale was lifted by 3% after sales of $12.77 billion in November, up 9.8% year-over-year. On a same-store basis, sales were up 9.2%, with growth of 12.2% in the United States.
