The Nokia 6 has been on sale in China for quite some time, and there are two variants with slight differences between them – which is basically the presence of Google services in one and absence in another. The models are numbered with codes TA-1003 and TA-1000, keeping the order of the one that has and the one that does not have Google services.

As Americans prepare for the arrival of the HMD smartphone to Amazon , the manufacturer has confirmed at least one change in the global variant that will be sold in the US over the Chinese: the LED notification light.

The information was passed on by HMD support to the Nokiamob website. There are four global variants, which, in addition, will have 1GB more RAM, and other changes are not yet confirmed. But the issue of the light of notification is official.

“The global versions TA-1033, TA-1039, TA-1021, TA-1025 do not support LED notification light.”

And the reason is very simple: market research. HMD basically discovered that Western users are not as much interested in the LED notification compared to the Chinese. For you or your friends, it may be a thing you need, but for the most part, it is not.

Nokia’s own support team has again contacted Nokiamob to clarify. Without going into detail, the explanation was very succinct:

“With regard to your question about removing the LED in the global version, please be aware that in relation to global markets, due to specific research, a decision has been made about the removal of the LED.”

The LED notification, if you do not know it, is a very useful feature for those who like to get their smartphone every five minutes. Instead of turning on the screen all the time, just look at the LED: if it is flashing, you have some notification waiting to be analyzed.

Some manufacturers, such as Samsung and Motorola, for example, have already replaced it with features that light up some pixels on the screen to show clock and notifications. And by the HMD survey, it will not be necessary for Western consumers.
